Rascoe abt. 1830 ___?___ Roulhas to Martha Rascoe abt 1832 Note: There were other related Rascoe in Tyrell, Hyde, Northampton, Edgecombe, Martin, Orange, Caswell, Alamance, Persons, Chowan, and other North Carolina Counties. Also Marlboro County South Carolina. Several Families had moved to Tennessee and Kentucky by the early 1800's. A line of the Rascoe family from Peter Rascoe down through John Peter Rasco and Aaron S. Rascoe remains in the area. Most of the other present day Rascoe (1999) living in Bertie County are Colored or mixed race. The Rascoes of North Eastern North Carolina came into this area in the 1740's from Northampton County Virginia and Princess Ann County Virginia. This line had arrived in Northampton County Virgina in 1672 probably from Lanchashire England. The name was probably originally Rascow or Roscoe. It is possible that some of the Rascoe that were in Hertford County N.C. were closely related to the Roscow family that owned the Blunt Point Plantation on the James River in old Warwick County Virginia but this has not been proven. There is a problem in that the early records, prior to 1830, of Hertford County N.C. have been destroyed.
