Surface-----Bertie is situated in the fork of the Roanoke and Chowan Rivers. The land is low and level, the soil is generally good and quite productive when well drained. Staples-----Bertie is eminently adapted to the growth of cotton and corn---the great staples of the county. Sweet potatoes are also profitable. ======================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be freely used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
