Edenton Gazette, Dec. 8, 1812 December 8, 1812
                            $20 REWARD
                            DESERTED 
  From the Barracks in Tarboro, in September, JOSEPH LAWRENCE, 
 born in Bertie County, aged 18 years, five  feet and nine  inches high,  
light hair and blue eyes, also a farmer.
   Twenty Dollars reward will be given for apprehending the above soldier and 
delivering to some office in the U.S. serive, and all resonable expenses paid. 
All masters of vessels are forewarned of harboring said deserters.
