Tobacco farmers are beginning to set out plants. We had a medium frost on the 23, but didn't do any damage. We have it clear and cool this evening, but hope to have it warmer soon. We are sorry to note the death of our friend and sister, Mrs. L. Pierce. She was a member of B. Baptist church and a faithful servant for many years in the Sunday School work. She leaves a husband, 7 children and a host of friends to mourn her loss. Yet when we think of the sacred writings to which our good sister so closely lived, we mourn not; for she is not dead, but sleepeth and if we are faithful to the end, we have a promise to be with our loved ones at home. At. Mr. Whittie Hughes rail-splitting last week a very sad accident occurred. Mr. G.J. Perry was struck down and remained unconscious for some time. He was sent home and on examination, the Doctor said no obnes or joints were broken. He is improving and we hope he will soon be able to do his work. Miss Perry left to attend the hospital in Baltimore last week; hope she will soon return in good health. Miss Outlaw, of our vicinity left for Norfolk last week, where she will attend the hospital for a short time. We hope to see her well again soon. There is no one to fill her vacant seat in Sunday School. Mr. M.W. Perry has been confined to his bed for some times and at this writing is very ill. We sympathize with him in his sufferings and hope to see him well again.
