Was Found Dead in Bed. Grand-daughter Gov. Stone. The death of Mrs. Biddle Saturday night was unexpected. For some weeks she had been sick, confined to her room, but her friends saw no reason to believe that her end was near. She passed away painlessly and peacefully. Mrs. Harriet Outlaw Biddle was the daughter of Dr. Joseph B. Outlaw, who married Miss Hannah Stone, a daughter of Governor David Stone. She resembled very much her distinguished grandfather. She was the widow of Mr. Frank Biddle of Craven County. For a number of years she lived with Hon. David E. Tayloe of this county, who married her sister Miss Elizabeth Outlaw. After the death of her sister she resided mainly in Windsor with the family of her cousin, Mrs. Mary F. Gilliam, at Rosefield. Mrs. Biddle was a highly intellectual woman, well read in the best literature. She was a member of Cashie Baptist church, and was buried in that church yard Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Biddle was born Nov. 18, 1834 in the hotel building which stood where Hon. Walter R. Johnson's residence is now situated. We expect she was the oldest resident of Windsor, born in the town. Rev. Mr Long of Marion Baptist church, conducted the funeral. The following gentlemen were pall-bearers: Jesse B. Stokes, Turner G. Bond, J. T. Nicholls, J. P. Freeman, Thomas Gillam and Francis D. Winston. Mrs. Biddle leaves no near relatives in this county. She had one daughter who married Harrison Valentine Esq. She died many years ago. Mrs. Biddle has a number of remote kindred in North Carolina who will note with sorrow the passing away of this representative of one of our oldest families.
