ROBERT LEE CHESSON

THE TIDEWATER NEWS – 10-24-1961, P. 6

   Robert Lee Chesson,  67, a native of Bertie County, N.C., died in 
Portsmouth General Hospital Tuesday night after a long illness.

   He was the husband of Mrs. Ida Williams Chesson and a son of Gray and Mrs. 
Mollie Wentz Chesson of Bertie County. He formerly ran a general store in 
Plymouth.

   He was a member of Edenton Baptist Church.

   Surviving, besides his widow, are two sons, Rupert Warren Chesson of 
Franklin and Robert Smith Chesson of Baltimore; two daughters, Mrs. Annie 
Norman Babb of Portsmouth and Mrs. Marion Priscilla Bryant of Suffolk; four 
brothers, Jesse Chesson of Hertford, N.C., W.W. Chesson of Waverly, Wesley 
Chesson of Mackeys, N.C., and Percy Chesson of Vanceboro, N.C.; two sisters, 
Mrs. Helen Gray of Norfolk and Mrs. Mildred Gray of Edenton; and 13 
grandchildren.

   Funeral services tentatively were be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at the 
graveside in Beaver Hill Cemetery, Edenton, N.C.  The body was at the W.J.M. 
Holland Funeral Home, Franklin.
