MARY COLESON HOWARD

   A funeral service for Mrs. Mary Coleson Howard is scheduled for Thursday at 
11 a.m. in W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton Jr. 
of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park.

   Pallbearers will be Johnny Scott, Ryland Duck, Jack Story Sr., Robert 
Sandlin, Donald Erwin and George Hedgepeth.

   Mrs. Howard, 74, died Tuesday at 5 a.m. in Guardian Care Nursing Home, 
Chesapeake.

   A native of Aulander, N.C., she was the widow of Willie Jackson Howard, a 
daughter of John Richard and Mrs. Leah Catherine Coleson.

   She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.

   Surviving are four sons, Vernon D. Howard of Appomattox and John M. Howard, 
Roy Howard, and Lacy A. Howard of Franklin; two daughters, Mrs. Edith H. 
Nicholson of Portsmouth and Mrs. Ruth H. Meade of Franklin; four sisters, Mrs. 
Sally Harrell of Ahoskie, Mrs. Nannie Felton of Colerain, N.C., Mrs. Essie 
Sanders of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Mrs. Ethel Holloman of Tampa, Fla.; and nine 
grandchildren.
