Jones, wife of W.F. Jones was born January 14, 1855, and departed this life September 9th 1898. She was a devout member of Republican Baptist Church in Bertie County. Five month previous to her death, Bro Jones moved his family to Columbia. Sister Jones soon became acquainted with many of the people and by her sweet Christian life made friends. Her children showed to the people in the Sabbath School and elsewhere that a praying, godly mother, had reared them. For four weeks this good woman suffered with fever, too severe to be stopped. Kind friends did all in their power to relieve, but all was of no avail, for with sweet words of thankfulness, and also of the sweet rest beyond, she quietly passed to her reward. How sweet to be a Christian! A good, kind neighbor and loving mother is gone. All will miss her, but most of all the loved ones in the home will miss her. A husband, seven children, other relatives, and a host of friends are left to mourn their loss. God bless the loved ones and draw the husband nearer, that at last a union may be formed up yonder, never to be broken. Josiah Elliott Additional Comments: Note: 1880 census.
