CARTIE CECILIA MINTON MODLIN

   Funeral services for Mrs. Cartie Minton Modlin, 77, of Franklin, who died 
early Sunday morning, March 10, at the home of her son, Willie Oscar Modlin, on 
South Main Street, were conducted Monday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock in the 
Lewiston Baptist Church, Lewiston, N.C., Rev. John B. Stephenson, pastor fo the 
church, officiated, and was assisted by Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of the 
Franklin Baptist Church.

   Mrs. Modlin, a former resident of Bertie County, N.C., was the widow of 
George N. Modlin and daughter of the late David H. and Mary Elizabeth Powell 
Minton of Bertie County. She was a member of the Lewiston Baptist Church and of 
its Ladies’ Auxiliary.

   In addition to W.O. Modlin, she is survived by another son, David Clarence 
Modlin of Ladysmith, Caroline County; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, 
and a sister, Mrs. Ella Bazemore of Lewiston, N.C.

   Burial was in Lewiston Cemetery, and the active pallbearers were Lineberry 
Grissom, Albert Bazemore, Hilton Modlin, Percy Minton, Worley Minton and David 
Hall Minton.
