WILLIE OSCAR MODLIN

   A funeral service for Willie Oscar Modlin, 65, of 301 S. Main St., Franklin, 
was held Saturday at 2 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. 
Rudy Potter, assistant pastor of Franklin Baptist Church.

   Burial was in Hoggard Cemetery, Lewiston.

   Pallbearers were W.D. Atkinson Jr., Arthur W. Smith, George Arrington, Thomas 
Galtress, Fonda Newsom, Burtelle Whitley, Sam Powell and Thomas I. Darden.

   A native of Bertie County, N.C., he lived here 40 years.

   At his death he was vice president of Virlina Homes Inc., a construction 
company.

   He was a son of George N. and Mrs. Cartie Minton Modlin and the husband of 
Mrs. Eria Slaughter Modlin.

   He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church, Holly Woodmen of the World Camp 
18, and Franklin Pythian Lodge 51.

   Besides his widow, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Blanche Marie Broadwell of 
Atlanta and two grandchildren.
