J. R. PHELPS ..
Funeral rites were held Saturday at the grave at Bethlehem Christian Church for 
the late J. R. Phelps, conducted by the R. E. Brittle, the pastor, and the Rev. 
Mr. Wilburn of Norfolk. The choir sang the “Old Rugged Cross,” “Abide With Me” 
and “More About Jesus.”
Following acted as active pallbearers: J. M. Ashley, W. C. Austin, Ernest 
Oliver, W. D. Austin, J. S. Holland, L. R. Goodman, P. B. Boone and Roland 
Holland. Friends of the family were honorary pallbearers.
CARD OF THANKS We wish to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for the 
many acts of kindness shown us during our recent bereavement and death of our 
dear husband and father, Jesse Rubin Phelps, - for the many beautiful floral 
offerings and to those who loaned their cars or helped in any way to comfort us, 
in our time of grief. WIFE AND CHILDREN
