WILLIAM HENRY PITTMAN

CAROLINA DEATHS
Wilson, N.C. - Oct. 14, W.H. Pittman, 93, the last surviving Confederate 
soldier of the Bertie County, died at his home in Aulander today. He was 
born in Virginia in 1842 and served four years in the Confederate forces in 
the Civil War. He then moved to North Carolina where he has lived ever 
since. He married Mattie Cook, of Aulander. He is survived by his wife, and 
two sons, John R. Pittman, of Homersville, Ga. And Dr. M.A. Pittman of 
Wilson. Funeral services will be held from the home in Aulander at 3 o’clock 
tomorrow afternoon. Burial will be in Aulander Cemetery.
*3rd Va. Inf., Co. D, Pvt. - enlisted in Jerusalem, age 18, on March 05. 
1861, served 4 years.
