Mr. Nichols came here when he retired from the contracting business in Bertie County, N.C. He lived here with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. Dewey Rice, 3348 Military road N.W. He is also survived by two sons, Mervin M. Nichols, 816 Potomac avenue S.E., and William R. Nichols, 401 Condon terrace S.E., and another daughter, Mrs. Annie N. Perry, 1218 Perry street N.E. Four grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in Chambers funeral home, Fourteenth and Chapin streets N.W. Burial will be in the family plot, Aulander, N.C.
