In Bertie Co, on the 27th of Feb 1859, of Erysipelas, Mrs. Amillia Spivey,
consort of Wm Spivey, aged about 50 years. Sister S was baptized into the
fellowship of Republican Baptist church in September 1847 and exemplified the
christian in every department of life assigned her by Divine Providence. She has
been afflicted several years, but she bore her affliction with meekness and
christian fortitude. She leaves a husband, four children and numerous friends to
mourn her loss; but they sorrow not as those without hope. Her funeral was
preached on the 28th by Elder J. Bunch from Psalm xxxiv:19 - after which her
body was conveyed to its last resting place till the morning of the
resurrection. But her spirit has gone to God who gave it there to enjoy the
presence of her Redeemer forever, "where the wicked cease from troubling and the
weary are at rest".
