DANNIE CALVIN SHEFFIELD

July 2, 1930 – August 2, 2004


Dannie Calvin Sheffield, 74, of 5867 Charlie Little Road.,
Granite Falls, NC, Died Monday evening at his home. A native of
Carthage, NC, he was the son of the late John Wesley Sheffield
and Bertha McDonald Sheffield of Moore County, NC, and was also
preceded in death by three brother and sister.

He retired from Lowe's Hardware. He had formerly been a funeral
director, and had owned businesses in Ocean Isle Beach and
Shallotte, NC. He was a graduate of Carthage High School and
Gupton Jones School of Mortuary Science in Nashville, Tn. He
also attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. 

He previously served as an elder at Shallotte Presbyterian
Church in Shallotte, NC. He was also involved in a beach
ministry at Ocean Isle Beach.

He was past master of the Masonic Lodge in Southern Pines, NC,
and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. He was past
President of the Shallotte, NC Rotary Club. He was also a
member of the NC and the National Funeral Director’s
Association. For many years, he served as a Scout Master in
Shallotte.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Daniel Sheffield of the
home; sons, Dannie Calvin Sheffield, Jr. of Hyannis, Ma, and
John (Gardner) Sheffield of Greensboro, NC; sister, Lydia
(Anne) Sheffield Powers and husband, Wilton. Five
grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and number of nieces
and nephews.
