CARRIE RAWLS WILLIAMS

   Mrs. Carrie Rawls Williams, 73, a resident of the Suffolk community and 
formerly of Sedley, this county, died Thursday morning, April 7, at her home 
near Suffolk after an illness of several months.

   She was the daughter of the late William Randall and Margaret Conner Rawls of 
Bertie County, N.C.  For many years she was a member of the Sedley Baptist 
Church.

   Surviving her are her husband, George Henry Williams; one daughter, Mrs. Sam 
Butler of Franklin; one son, Thomas B. Williams of Suffolk; five grandchildren; 
one brother, Walter Rawls of Aulander, N.C.; four sisters, Mrs. Luther Rawls of 
Aulander, Mrs. Rowena Outland and Mrs. John Bryant of Woodland, N.C., and Mrs. 
Richard Bryant of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; and several nephews and nieces.

   Funeral services for Mrs. Williams were conducted Saturday afternoon at two 
o’clock from the Sedley Baptist Church by her pastor, Rev. L.M. Kanipe of 
Courtland, followed by burial in Rosemont Cemetery at Sedley. The pallbearers 
were S.L. Greene, Calvin Ward, J.J. Outland, Edwin Rawls, Sam Butler, Jr., 
Stanley English, Henley E. Williams and Charles R. Greene.
