Witnesseth that the same Uriah Duning for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred fifty pounds State money to him in hand paid the Receipt whereof he Doth hereby acknowledge that he is fully satisfied and paid and the said Uriah Duning Doth grant Bargain Sell Convey and confirm unto him the said Job Umphlet his heirs and assigns forever a Tract of land lying and Being in Bertie County and Bounded as followeth Viz Beginning at a poplar on Co__anitset pososon running thence East Course to Shederick Dunings line, thence along the said Dunings line north Course to Jonas Rawls line, thence along the said Rawls line & west Course to a Post oak a corner tree then as By a Line of marked trees & south course to the first Station Containing By Estimation Two hundred and fifty acres. Be the same more or less, to have and to hold the said land and Plantation with all the appurtenances Remainder and Remainders therein to Belonging or in any ways appertaining unto the said Job Umphlet his heirs and assigns forever free from all the cumbrances in fee simple and for this I the said Uriah Duning at the Ensealing thereof to avouch myself to be the true and Lawfull owner of said land and premises and Hath in L__ self a good Right and Lawfull authority to sell and dispose of the same and I the said Uriah Duning for myself heirs and assigns will warrant and forever Defend the said land and premises unto the said Job Umphlet his heirs and assigns forever free & freely, Clear and Clearly from all Incumbrances whatsoever, and that the said Job Umphlet shall have Quiet and peaceable possession. Stevens Gray Bertie County North Carolina Deed-FHL #0018257 Cook to Umphlet This Indenture made the twenty second day of January in the year of the 15th Independance of this State and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety one Between Dempsey Cook of Bertie County in the State of North Carolina planter of the one part, and Job Umphlet of the same county and State of aforesd. of the other part Witnesseth that he the sd Dempsey Cook for and in consideration of the sum of Fifty eight pounds ten Shillings to him in hand paid by the said Job Umphlet the receipt whereof he the sd Dempsey Cook doth hereby acknowledge hath granted Bargained sold aliened and confirmed and by these presents doth grant Bargain and sell alien and confirm unto the said Job Umphlet his heirs and assigns forever a certain parcel of land lying and being in Bertie County aforesaid on hearts Delight Pocoson Bounded Begining as followeth begining at a pine in hearts Delight runing South 18 poles to a pine Phillip Ranlef Corner thence along his line South to West Seventy three poles to a post oak then South thirty seven an half East two hundred & Twelve poles to Red Oak then North seven East fifty four poles to a ____ then North seven East one hundred and Nineteen poles to Dempsey Cooks back line in hearts Delight Pocoson, then South Eighty five West one hundred and ten poles through the pocoson to the first Station, containing one hundred and seventeen acres of land be the same more or less, and also all lands trees woods under woods titles Commons of pasture profits commodities advantages here detain ___ ways waters appurtneances to the sd parcel of land above Mentioned bebonging or in any wise appertaining and also the remainder & remainders reversion & reversions rents & se___ of the sd premises and of any part thereof & all the estate Right, title Interest claim & demand whatsoever of him the sd Dempsey Cook to the sd parcel of land, to have and to hold the sd Messuage ten___ tract or parcel of land & all & singular the premises above mentioned and every part thereof with the appurtenances as unto the sd Job Umphlet his heirs & assigns forever to the only proper use and behoof of him the sd Job Umphlet his heirs & assigns forever & he the sd Dempey Cook for him self & his heirs the said Messuage ten____ tract or parcel of land and premises and every part thereof free from all in ___ bran__, the tax of it only accepted, against him & HIs heirs & assigns all & every other person or persons whatsoever to the sd Job Umphlet his heirs & assigns forever, shall and will forever defend by these presents. in witness where of the sd Dempsey Cook hath hereunto set my hand & seal the day & year above Written Dempsey x Cook signed sealed and Delivered in the presents of us.
