Bertie County
 
To any authorized Minister of the Gospel of the State of North Carolina or
acting Justice of the Peace of the County of Bertie
 
You are hereby authorized to Solemnize the Act of Matrimony between John Hill
and William J Ruffin - a resident of Said County and make return of Said
Marriage to the Office of the Clerk of the Court of Bertie County within three
months from the date hereof
 
Given under my hand & Seal at the Court house in Windsor the 21st day of Oct - 1851

Know all men by these presents, That we John Hill and William Hill are held and
firmly bound unto the State of North Carolina, in the sum of One thousand
dollars; but to be void on condition there is no legal cause to obstruct a
marriage between John Hill and William J Ruffin for whom a license now issues. 
In testimony of which, we have hereunto set our hands and seals, this 21st day
of October A. D. 1851
