1784   State of North Carolina to the Sheriff of Bertie Co, Greetings we command you to attach the Estate (has line thru Estate) good & chattles land and tinemesh? (tennaments?) of William BRYAN to the acount? of twenty pound spent? or as much as to be found repleniable? on security as shall be of value sufficient to take by the debt and cost recording to the complaint of Elisha BRYAN and such Estate so attached in your hand, to secure or so to provide that the same may be liable to further proceedings there uponto be had at the court to be held for the county of Bertie at the court house in  Windsor on the second Monday in May next so as to compel the said William BRYAN to appear and answer the above complaint of the said Elisha BRYAN when and where you shall make know to the said court howyou have Executed this writ witness Stevens GRAY clerk of our said court at Windsor the tenth day of May inthe year of our Lord one thousand and seven hundred and eighty four and in the eighth year of American Independence.
