Paul Johnson" 1859 John Butler estate papers North Carolina Bertie County The undersigned commissioners, duly appointed, in obedience to the annexed order of the Court of Pleas and Quarter sessions of Bertie County issuing from the August Term 1859 of said Court, after being duly sworn, proceeded to make partition of the lands described in this petition among the heirs of John Butler deseased, and they beg leave to make the following report of their proceedings. They value all the lands belonging to said heirs at the sum of eighteen hundred dollars ~ And to John Thomas Butler, they asign lot no. 1 in the annexed plat valued at five hundred dollars ($500) To Eleazer Coburn and wife Temperance lot no. 2 in the annexed plat valued at three hundred ($300) dollars. To Frances Butler lot no. 3 in the annexed plat, valued at five hundred dollars ($500) To Hill Butler lot no. 4, containing the Home tract, lying on the south side of Roquist Swamp bounded by the Indian Woods road, the lands of Isaac Mizells, Mistress Mary Ashburn, and the heirs of Lucinda Wheeler, containing by estimation one hundred acres, valued at five hundred dollars ($500) They further declare that John Thomas Butler, Frances Butler and Hill Butler each shall pay to Eleazer Coburn and wife Temperance, the sum of sixty six and 66/100 dollars to make their shares equal. Beneath is the notation]: The above plat represents the Lands belonging to the Heirs of Jackey Butler (Dec) as it was divided among his heirs.
