Bertie County NC Wills - Crain Misc. File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by John Cain Bertie NC Will Book 03 Mar 1732 Will of WILLIAM CAIN; 03 Mar 1732 / 02 May 1734 Wife: Elizabeth Cain my Dearly beloved wife my plantation thatI now live upon Son: Hardy Cain - negro boy called Peter Son: William Cain - 290a purchased of William Whitehead Son: James Cain - (land) Dau: Patience Cain, Unis Cain Dau: Sary Cain - my negro wench called Cate Dau: Rachell Cain Exr: wife Elizabeth Cain Wit: Richard Pace, Jurat; William Cain NOTE: (Probate date conflict). Though the date 2 May 1734 is very plain on the original will, we believe the date 8 May 1733 is correct, partly because the dates flanking this entry in the Minute Book are for 1733, but also the widow Elizabeth seems to have remarried before the inventory was made which was recorded in the Minutes of the Nov. Court 1734. Bertie NC Will Book Loose Wills 11 Jun 1757 Will of Epaphradatus Moore; 11 Jun 1757 / Oct 1757 (NC Archives) Wife: Elizabeth Dau: Mary Moore, Ann Moore, Judith Hunt, REBEKAH CAIN, Charity Walston Rachel Standly, Christian Moore, Penelope Hare, Grace Moore. Grandson: Elisha Wilson, Thomas Moore son of my dau Ann Moore. Son: John Moore Son-in-law: James Haward Granddau: Rachell Walston Exr: Daus Mary and Ann Wit: Charles Home, Demcy Holland, Lewis Perry Exrs daus Mary and Ann. Wit. Charles Home, Demcy Holland, Lewis Perry. There was a caveat against the probate of the "protended will supposed to be made by Eppaphradatus Moore". I do not know who his dau Rebecca married, but it could be significant that an Edward Moore was prominent in the family of JAMES CAIN in Edgecombe. ======================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be freely used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
