McCollum In the name of God Amen, I Solomon Cherry of the province of North Carolina and County of Bertie being very sick and Weak in Body but of perfect mind and memory Thanks be given unto God calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and Recommend my soul unto the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend unto the Earth to be Buried in a decent Christian Burial at the Discretion of my Executors Nothing Doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty Power of God, and as Touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to Bless me in this Life I Give Devise and Dispose of the same in the following manner and --------------. First I give and Bequeath unto my Loving son William Cherry one Cow and Calf and one Ewe and Lamb one feather bed and two sheets and one iron pott one gun already received except one Ewe and Lamb. Also I give and Bequeath unto my beloved son Reder Cherry one Cow and Calf one feather Bed and two sheets and one Iron Pott and one gun and one Ewe and Lamb already received except one Cow and Calf. Also I give and Bequeath to my Beloved Daughter Mary Jenkins one Cow and Calf and one Ewe and Lamb and one feather bed and two sheets and one Iron Pott already received. Also I give and Bequeath to my Daughter Martha Cherry one Cow and Calf and one Sow and Piggs and one Ewe and Lamb, and one Iron Pott and one feather Bed and furniture and one ----Bedstead. Also I give and Bequeath unto my beloved Daughter Elizabeth Cherry one Cow and Calf one Ewe and Lamb one Sow and Piggs one Iron Pott and one Feather Bed and Furniture and one Bedstead. Also I lend to my Beloved Wife Sarah Cherry my manor House and Plantation whereon I now Live with all my Household Goods and stock my two mares. Also I give and Bequeath to my Beloved Son James Cherry one Cow and Calf and one Ewe and Lamb and one Iron Pott one gun and one mare named Jenny. one feather Bed and furniture and one Bedstead. Also I give and Bequeath unto my Son Solomon Cherry my manor House and Plantation with all my Lands adjoining after my Wifešs Decease. Likewise one young Horse named Shannon (?) one Cow and Calf one Ewe and Lamb one Feather Bed and Furniture and one Bedstead one Iron Pot and to him and his heirs and assigns forever. One gun and I leave all my stock of hogs to be Equally divided between James Cherry and Solomon Cherry after my Wifešs Decease. And all the Remainder of my Estate to be Equally Divided among all my Children. I likewise Constitute make and Ordain my two sons William Cherry and Cader Cherry Executors of this my Last Will and Testament and I do hereby utterly disallow Revoke and Disannull all and every other former Testaments Wills ----- Bequeaths and Executors by me in anywise before named Willed and Bequeathed Ratifying this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fourteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy-three.
