First, I recommend my soul to God who gave it, and my body to be decently buried at the discretion of my executor; my worldly goods I dispose of in the following manner, first I desire that all my just debts be paid. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my dutiful daughter Ann Blount one lot in Windsor No. 125 and five silver dollars also two cows and calves and two ewes and a lamb having already given her a Negro girl named Silvey at the day of her marriage to her heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my dutiful daughter Elizabeth Bryan one lot in Windsor No. 139 and five silver dollars also two cows and calves and two ewes and lambs having already given her a Negro girl named Esther at the day of her marriage to her heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my dutiful daughter Frances Bouthae one lot in Windsor No. 12 and five silver dollars also a Negro girl named Rachel which I gave her at the day of her marriage and one Negro boy named Heck to her heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my dutiful daughter Jannell Gray one lot in Windsor No. 86 one Negro woman named Jude and her two children Mary and Robin and what increase she may have from this day one Negro boy name Tom one sorrel mare that I bought of Robert Rhoodes, two cows and calves, two ewes and lambs, six mahogany chairs and one bed and furniture to her heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my dutiful daughter Elenor Gray one lot in Windsor No. 11 one Negro woman named Hannah and what increase she may have from this day one Negro boy named little Peter, one more called young James two cows and calves two ewes and lambs, the remainder part of my mahogany chairs and one bed and furniture, to her heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my dutiful son George Gray my plantation and land called the mill field being butted and bounded in the following manner, beginning at a marked pine his place? to wher Strouns’s corner on Cashy river running along his line to a red oak on the mill pond side, then running along the mill pond side to the main road at the broad branch then angles the branch along the road to a small branch on the West side of the road, then up the branch to the head to a mark ed oak, then South sixty five degrees West to a small branch, then down that branch to the side of the broad branch, then along the side of the broad branch Westerly to a small branch near the rick neck then a straight line to David Turner’s corner in my line then up and along my line to my corner above where Safel lived, then South along my line that divides John Walstons dec. land and my land to John Hade’s? line then along John Hade’s line to the river then up and along the river side to the first station, one lot in Windsor No. 139, one Negro man named Dick, and one bed and furniture to him, his heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my dutiful daughter Margaret Gray one lot in Windsor No. 85 one Negro girl named Betts with what increase she may have from this day, one Negro man named Jack, my two yearling fillies two cows and calves two calves two ewes and lambs, six maple chairs, one small black walnut table and one bed and furniture to her heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I lend unto my dutiful daughters, Janell, Elinor, Margarett and Penelope Gray during there single life the land and plantation whereon I now live with the improvements thereon butted and bounded as follows beginning at the broad branch their brother George Gray’s corner at the road, then running up the said branch to the mouth of a small branch, then running up that branch to the fence where it crosses the aid branch then a straight line with that fence to the road that leads from Windsor to the Indian Woods then along that road to the broad branch then down the broad branch the various courses to George Gray’s line that meets the broad branch then along his line to the first station and whenever any one of my aforesaid daughters marries she is to have no further use of the said land and plantation and so until they are all married or died and whenever that happens, then give the above said land and plantation to my dutiful son William Lee Gray to him and his heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my dutiful son William Lee Gray all my lands joining his lands not heretofore given away one Negro man named Big Peter, eighty silver dollars, two cows and calves, two ewes and lambs and one bed and furniture to him his heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my dutiful daughter Penelopy Gray one Negro woman named Sinder and her child Charles with what increase she may have from this day, one Negro boy named Freeman, one sorrel mare called the Doc, one other small sorrel mare at the quarter two cows and calves two ewes and lambs and one bed and furniture to her heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: My will and desire is that my executors hereafter mentioned have my dwelling house thahat I now live in but in tolerable repair as soon as it can conveniently be done. ITEM: It is my will and desire that my executors hereafter named endeavor to get a title to my land on Roanoak river which I bought at Youman’s Bindue? and sell the said land for the highest price that can be got for it. ITEM: I give to my executors hereafter named my land in the Uneroy? Marshes containing two hundred and twelve and half acres to sell to the best advantage for the following purposes, the money arising from the sale of the aforesaid land with the money arising from the sale of my quarter called Youman’s to be made use of to pay my debts and the remainder if any with all the use of my estate not heretofore given away to be equally divided between my before mentioned nine children, share and share alike to them and their heirs and assigns forever. Lastly I nominate and appoint my worthy friend Samuel Johnston Esquire, my nephew William McKinsie my worthy friend John Bouthae, and my sons, George and William Lee Gray executors to this my last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this second day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine.
