I Thomas Edward Hare of Bertie County, in the State of North Carolina possessing at this time good health and Sound memory, make this my last will and Testament. I assigne my soul into the hands of its Creator in all humble hope of its future happiness, as in the Disposal of a Being Infinitely good. As to my Body my desire is, that it be interred in a decent and Christian like manner near the Remains of my honnored parents, and dear Children in Our family burying ground, a place of Interment for the Hare Family, for as I do humby Constitute Nominate and appoint my brothers in law Starkey Sharp, and Jacob Sharp together, with my particular friend Amos Raner Executors of This my last Will and Testament.............As to the Disposal of my estate my will is, that the Whole of my Movable estate be sold Negroes and all Singular on Whatever terms my executors any or whole think as most believe to the Interest of my Legaties. Imprimus I give and Bequeath to my Beloved Wife Sally Hare the One Third part of my Landed Estate to be held by her During her Natural Life, together with the one fourth part of My movable Estate, the Moveable part to Descend to her Or assigns for ever, Item my Will and desire is that the Residue of my estate be Equally Divided between and amongst my Children, and if any or either Of them should die before they come to be twenty one years old: Then in such Case the estate of the party deceased shall be Equally divided amongst and between the Surviving party of my Children. I Consign in trust And Charging Said brothers in law to see that my Children Shall have a Virtuous Education for this is a point of Grave Consideration and importance To me This is my last will and Testament signed with my own hand and dated this 26th day of April in the year of Our Lord, 1806. The will was copied as written, and to the best of my ability to read the writing. Genealogist note. Thomas Edward Hare was married twice, first to Sarah Sharpe and secondly to Mrs. Rachel Askew Hunter(sister to David Askew Jr.) Hence the 1806 Will had to be challenged in 1812. Later documentation shows that David Askew Jr. was appointed guardian to John Hare and David Hare, orphans of Thomas E.
