In the name of God amen this thirty day of Mar 1740 I Robert HOGGES of the county 
of Bartie being in good health and perfect _____ and memory thanks be given to my 
God theirfore and calling? to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is 
appointed for all men once to dye do make and ordain this my last will and 
testiment that is to say principally and first of all I given and recommend my 
soul into the hands of God that gavest and my body I recommend to the Earth to be 
buried in descent Cristion burial at the descretion of my Executors not doubting? 
but at the General Resurrection I shall recover? the same again by the might power 
of God.

And as fouschon? such worthy Estate whsorwith? it hath pleased God to bless and 
this life I give demise? and despose of the same in the following manner and form-

Imprimis I give and bequeath to my loving wife one negro girl name Jane to hur and 
hur one desposal.

I give and bequeath to my son Elias HOGGES one negro man named Peter---

Item - I give and bequeath to my two sons John and Richard HOGGES one negro man 
named Dick between them and to my son John HOGGES the plantation and land in 
Virginia that he now lives upon to him and his heirs forever.

And to my son Richard HOGGES a plantation and land in Bartie Co in Unarow Meadows 
(Runaroi Meadows) where he now lives to him and his heirs forever.

Item - I give and bequeath to my three daughters Ann MOORE and Ollive WIGONS and 
Martha WILLIAMS (wife of Isaac WILLIAMS), each of them a feather bed and coverings 
as belongs to them and I give and bequeath to my daughter Sary CAIN (wife of John 
CAIN) my plantation that I now live on in Bertie County and all the land belonging 
to it, hur and hur heirs and one feather bed and covering that belongs to it and 
that to be hur____?

I give and bequeath to my loving wife Ann HOGGES the rest? of all my hole Estate 
hur lifetime with and on with and after hur deceased all my estate with insons and 
with out that is not given in Logues? to be equally divided among my three sons 
and three daughters that is Ann, Ollive and Martha and they to chuse among 
themselves three men? divide of and every one to take his equally.

And I like? wife Constitu___?make and ordain my son Elias HOGGES and my son 
Richard HOGGES and my son in law Isaac WILLIAMS my Executors of this my last will 
and testament and I do hereby_____disallow_____and disannul all and ____other will 
testaments Log acres? and bequeaths and executors by _____in any wayes be 
____named willed and bequeathed ratifing and confirming this and no other to be my 
last will and testatment in witness whereof I have ____  ____ set my hand and seal 
the day and year above writon.
