Hoggard State of North Carolina Bertie County I William H. Hoggard of Bertie County and Sate aforesaid being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say: First That my executors hereinafter named shall provide for my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my relatives and friends, and pay all my funeral expenses together with my Just debts howsoever and wheresoever owing, out of the moneys that may come into their hands as a part and parcel of my Estate: Item 1st I lend to my beloved Father and Mother Richard Hoggard and Harriet M. Hoggard during their lives, a certain tract of land whereon my Father and Mother now live, containing two hundred and fifty acres, after the death of my Father and Mother I give said tract of land To my sister Laura A. J. Peelle wife of Jackson Peele to her and her heirs forever; Item 2nd I give to my Brother John F. Bond Ten dollars in money, to him and his heirs forever; Item 3rd I give and bequeath to my youngest Brother John N Hoggard his heirs and assigns forever all the balance of my property not heretofore given away. Real personal and mixed of what nature or kind soever, and wheresoever the same shall be at the time of my death. And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint by beloved Father and Brother Richard Hoggard and John N. Hoggard my lawful Executors to all intents and purposes to execute this my last will and testament, all ordering to the time intent and meaning of the same, and every part and clause thereof, hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made. In Testimony whereof I the said William H. Hoggard, do hereunto set my hand and seal, this the 14th day of October 1886. W. H. Hoggard seal Signed sealed published and declared by the said William H. Hoggard to be his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence do subscribe our names and witnesses thereto A. Jenkins J. B. Williams North Carolina Bertie County The foregoing last will and testament of William H. Hoggard was this day proven before me by the oath and examination of A. Jenkins and J. B. Williams the subscribing witnesses thereto who being each by me duly sworn say they believe this paper writing nor shown them to be and contain the last will and testament of the said William H. Hoggard, that he signed the same in their presence, that they witnesses the same at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other, that the believe the said testator was of sound mind of lawful age and under not undue restraint. The said will is submitted to probate and is hereby ordered to be recorded. At the same time Richard Hoggard one of the Executors therein named was duly qualified by taking the required oath.
