In the Name of god, Amen, the eighth day of February One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy-Nine, I John Jinkins of the State of North Carolina and County of Bertie, Planter, being very sick and weak in body, but of Perfect Mind and Memory, Thanks be Given unto God, Therefore calling unto mind the Mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Dye do make and ordain this my Last Will & Testament. That is to Say, Principally, and first and first of all, I give and Recommend my Soul into the Hands of god that gave it; and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in Decent and Christian manner at the Dicision of my executors. Nothing Doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall Receive the Same again by the Almighty Power of god, and on touching such worldly Estate where with it hath Pleased God to bless me in this Life, I give, Devise and Dispose of the Same in the following manner and form. Imprimis, I Give and bequeath to my Well beloved Wife Mary Jinkins my Riding mare and Bridle and a Side Saddle, and one feather Bed and furniture. Bed Sted, and one Chest, that is called her Chest, one oval Table, one new Linnen Wheel and New Wolling Wheel and Two Cows and Calves, Two Eues and Lambs and the barn and meat that is now in my house, all which I Give to her to be at her Disposal and likewise Land unto her one Negro man Slave Named Admiral Enduring her Widowhood and I Lend unto her My Manour Plantation & House Enduring her Widowhood. Item, I Give and bequeath to my Well Beloved Son Zadack Jinkins my manour Plantation whereon I Live with one Hundred & fifty acres of Land thereto belonging to him his heirs and Assigns for Ever and if he Should Dye without heir of his body, then I Give the said Plantation and Land to my younger Son Charles Jinkins his heirs and Assigns for Ever, and I Likewise give unto my Son Zadock Jinkins my Riding Horse called Streamer to be Delivered to him at the age of Twenty one years, to him his heirs and Assigns for Ever. Item, I Give and bequeath to my Well beloved Son Reddick Jinkins one Hundred Acres of Land and Plantation which I bought of William Blye, to him his heirs for Ever, and if he Should Dye without heir of his body, that then I Give the said Plantation's Land to my Son Irvin Jinkins, his heirs & Assigns for Ever. Item, I Give and bequeath to Beloved Son Ephraim Jinkins the Plantation and Three Hundred & forty acres of Land that I Bought of John Baker Lying on Hearts Delight Pocoson, all which I Give to him his heirs & assigns for Ever. Item, I Give and bequeath unto my well beloved Son Isaac Jinkins one Land Entry Containing Three Hundred Acres Joining upon the flat Pocoson, and one Two year old Horse Colt Called Jumper and one feather Bed and coverlid and Two Sows & pigs, one Ewe and Lamb, one Cow and Calf, to him his heirs and assigns for Ever. Item. I Give to my beloved Son Charles Jinkins one Land Entry Containing Two hundred Acres & Desire that money be raised out of my Estate Imediately to Take the said Land for him, and I give him one Cow and Calf, one Ewe & Lamb, all which I Give to him his heirs & assigns for Ever. Item, I Give to my beloved Daughter Winne Jinkins one feather Bed, Bed Sted and furniture and one Linnen Wheel, one Cow and Calf, one Ewe and Lamb, and my New Chest, all which I Give to her heirs and Assigns to be Delivered to her at her Marriage Day. Item, I Give to my Daughter Sally Jinkins one feather Bed, Bed Sted and furniture, one Cow and Calf, one Ewe and Lamb, one old Chest, to her and heirs for Ever to be Delivered to her at her Marriage Day. Item. I Give and bequeath to my Well beloved Son Abram Jinkins One Hundred Pounds Currency of the State above said, one Cow & Calf, and Desire that my Negro man Admiral be Sold at the Ending of my Wife's Widowhood and the Money Thence arising I Give to be Equally between my tow Sons and Daughter, viz, Charles Jinkins, Irvin Jinkins and Keziah Jinkins, to them and their heirs for Ever and I Likewise Give unto my Son Abram Jinkins one Ewe & Lamb, Two Sows and Pigs, one Large Pewter Basin two pewter Plates one Delph plate, which is now at Henry Barns's. Item. I Lend unto my Wife Mary Jinkins, four Pewter Basons, Two Dishes and half [Bason?], and four Syder Hogsheads and one Brandy Barrell and Ten Cypress Barrells, one Large iron pott, one Box Iron, and the Remaining part of my Sheep, Enduring her Widowhood, and the remaining part of my Stock of Cattle and thirty-four head of Hogs and Case of Knives and forks and one frying pan one Skillet and Nine Sows and pigs that is fed at a Tarkiln Bed or the Beds Enduring her Widowhood. And the Remaining part of my Stock of Hogs I Give to be Equally Divided between my two Sons Charles Jinkins Irvin Jinkins and my Daughter Keziah Jinkins. I likewise Give to my Wife Mary Jinkins One Hundred and thirty five pounds Currency of the State and Twenty Dollars and Ten Pistoreons in hard Silver money to be at her Disposal for Ever. and I Lend unto her Twenty Geece, & I Likewise Give unto my Son Ephraim Jinkins one feather Bed. The Remaining part of my Estate I Give to Be Equally Divided between all my Sons and Daughters at the Time When my Son Zadock Jinkins Shall Arive to The age of Twenty one years. And I hereby Constitute, make and Ordain my trusty friends, William Cherry and James Jinkins Junior my Sole Executors of This my Last Will and Testament, and I Do hereby utterly disclaim Revoke and Disanul all and Every other former Testaments, Wills, Legacies and Bequests and Executors by me in any ways before Named willed and Bequeathed. Ratifying and Confirming This and no other to be my Last Will and Testament. In Witness Whereof, I have here unto Set my hand and Seal the day and year above Written.
