"First of all, I lend to my beloved wife ELIZABETH THOMAS that part of my land whereon my house stands, that is to say - begin at Green branch in the Chapple Road then along the said Road to the new Road then down the Herrin River Road to Green Branch then up said branch to the first station, by my daughters having liberty to stay in my house until my son JOHN THOMAS arrives at the age of twenty-one provided they live single, that is to say during her natural life or widowhood also one Ruan [?] ---?- - and which my children is to have the use of when convenient while my son JOHN [THOMAS] arrives to the age of twenty-one. Also one cow and calf, two Ewes & Lambs, one sow and pigs. I give her one bed & Skid & furniture also one chest & trunk also I lend unto my wife ELIZABETH [THOMAS] during her life or widowhood one negro man Sip. Secondly my will and desire is that my land whereon I live and all adjoining it be equally divided between my two sons JOHN THOMAS and GEORGE E. THOMAS. Thirdly, my will and desire is that my Pinney Wood land adjoining JAMES MARDRE, I. B. SKINNER and others be sold by my Executors at the most suitable time as they may...." Book F, top of page 57.
