Amen. I William Morris residing in Bertie County, North Carolina, being this day of sound mind and disposing memory, do make, declare, ordain and publish all of the following as my last will and testament in manner, matter form substance and intent to wit:- Item1. I desire my body buried in a manner suitable to the station I have filled in life respectally but not costly. Item 2. I enjoin on my executors named in this will the paument of every debt I our aat my death. Item 3. I lend to my beloved wife Cenie Morris for and during the term of her widowhood and each and every article and kind of property I may own at my death, whether real personel or mixed, whether legal or equitanle, lands tenements and hereditaments, all property whether in possession or expectancy. She is to have and use and occupation of all I die possessed of as long as she remains unmarried. At the marriage of my wife Cenie Morris or at her death unmarried, the said Cenie shall in either event lose and cease to have any use, enjoyment, right. interest or tittle in and to any of my said estate. Item4 At the death of my said wife or immediately upon the event of her marriage in either event I give and devise and bequeath the tract of land upon which I now live, which I bought of W. M. Davis and which is called my “Home Place” to my children Ruben Morris, Abram Morris, Ida Morris and Norman Morris in the quantity and to be held as herein described and defined in a plat of said land made by William Parker which is annexed to this will and made a part therof to the same of said children shall be. To Ida Morris and Norman Morris Lot No1 of said plat, to have and to hold unto them, their hairs and assigns forever in fee simple. To Abram Morris Lot No.4 of said plat, to have and to hold unto him and his heirs and assigns forever in fee simple. To Ruben Morris for the term of his life only lots No.2 and No.3 of said plat and after the death of the said Reuben Morris, to the children begotten of his body in fee simple absolutely. It is clear intent and purpose of this will and of the testator to give his son Reuben only a life estate in said lots No. 2 and No. 3. Item 5, At the death of my said wife or immediately upon her marriage, in either event, I give devisee and bequeath unto Ulysses Morris and William Frances Morris, to them and their heirs and assigns forever, charged hower with the payment herin set out, the Biggs lands which I bought of the Cashie and Roanoke Railroad Company, composed of the Tunstall and Wimberly Lands. And I expressly charge upon said lands the sum of Three Hundred Dollars to be paid to my son Solomon Morris upon the death of my wife or when she remarries, the payment to be made in either of these events and without interest until either event happens and then from the happening of either event. Item 6. At the death of my said wife or immediately upon the marriage, in either event I give devise and bequeath upon my son Solomon Morris the sum of Four Hundred Dollars to be paid in cash as follows, one hundred dollars by my executors , and the sum of three hundred dollars which I have and do now expressly charge upon the said Briggs Land mentioned in item 5 of this will. Item 7. No right, title, interest or estate in the lands devised to them in item 5 of this will, shall vest in Ulysses Morris or William Francis Morris until payment of said sum of Three Hundred Dollars and the payment of the said sum to the said Solomon Morris is made an absolute condition precedent to the vesting of said lands in them. Item 8. Any sum or sums of money due me either by note bond or account at my death by either of my children shall be changed to him or her in the settlement of my estate and he or her shall receive said note bond or account as cash in said settlement and shall pay up my balance due the estate before participating in any devise here in made. Item 9. I give and bequeath unto my daughter, Ida Morris the organ now in my parlor which I bought for her. Item 10. At the death of my wife or in the event of her marriage I give and bequeath unto my sons Ulyses Morris and William Frances Morris all my interest in and to all the personal property belonging with the Biggs land which includes the horses, mules, stock, carts, implements and cattle or said land. Item 10. At the death of my wife Cenie Morris, or immediately upon her marriage, I direct my executors herein named to sell all of my personal estate that has not been consumed by my wife, and the proceeds of the same together with the cash on hand at her death or marriage and the proceeds of all notes bonds and accounts due me, I wish equally divided between my children Solomon Morris, Ulyses Morris, William Frances Morris, Abram Morris, Ruben Morris, Ida Morris, and Norman Morris: and in the event of the death of either before the death or marriage of my wife I wish that share divided among my other children. Item 11 The lands herein devised all are situated in Bertie County, North Carolina. Item 12. I nominate constitute and appoint my wife Cenie Morris, my son William Francis Morris and my friend Francis D. Winston executors to this my last and testament, giving them full authority to sell at public or private sale, for cash or on a credit any of the personalty of which I die the owner. Married Cennieth Butler born 1839 died 1898. They were married December 14, 1865 they got their License Dec. 13, 1865. Their License gives her name as Cene. In the will you will see he refers to her as Cennie. I did not copy the last page where the land was divided. There is a description in writing in the will.
