I John Nicholls of the County of Bertie & State of North Carolina Brick-Layer, Being weak in body though of perfect mind & memory, do Constitute, and Ordain this my Last Will and Testament, First, I give and Bequeath my Soul to Almight God who gave it Beseeching his most Gracious Acceptance of it thro' the Mirits of my Redeemer Jesus Christ, and my Body to the Earth to be Buryed in a Decent Christian Burial at the Discretion of my Executors here after Named, And as to such worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with I will and positively Dispose of in the following manner. First of all I will that as soon as may be all my Debts be paid. Item I give and Bequeath to my son Jehu Nichols part of a certain parcel or tract of Land that I formerly bought of James Ryan bounded aas follows, on the East side by Cashoak road, on the South side by George Ryan's Land, on the West side by William Fleetwoods Land, and on the North side by a parcel of Land I bought of Thomas Ashburn Dec'd, whereon I now live. Containing about Eighty Acres be the same more or less to him his heirs, & Assigns forever. Item I give and Bequeath to my Son George Nichols the other part of the above said tract of Land that I bought of James Ryan Dec'd, Lying on the other that is the East side of Cashoak road, bounded as follows, on the west side by Cashoak road, and on the other sides by George Ryan's Dec'd & Ashley's Land as by the Dec'd for said Land doth Appear, to him his heirs, and Assigns forever. Item I give and bequeath to my Son Thomas Nicholls a Certain parcel of Land I bought of Thomas Ashburn Dec'd whereon I now live Containing one hundred Acres bounded by the courses of the Dec'd for said Land, to him his heirs and Assigns forever. Only let it be remembered that it is my desire that my Daughters that now live with me shall have the use the plantation whereon I now live to make Cotton, flax & (If they see cause to live together on it) and shall not be interrupted. And all the rest and & remaining part of my Estate I give to be Equally Divided among my four Single Daughters (to wit) Isabella, Grissel, Anne, and Peggy Nicholls's to them at their Disposal. And Lastly I Constitute, Ordain, & Appoint, My Loving Son Jehu Nicholls & my Friend William Parrott Hardy, Executors. of this my last Will and Testament Utterly Revoking & Disannuling all former Will or wills, Ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal This 6th day of December in the Year of our Lord 1790.
