Bertie COUNTY NC Will of Jacob Parrott (1738) File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Hodges, Francis R" http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/bertie.htm Will of Jacob Parrott (1738) In the name of God Amen The third day of November in the year of our Lord oe thousand seven hundred and thirty- eight I Jacob Parrot of Bertie precint in Albemarle County in North Carolina planter being very sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to almighty God Therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to dye do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul unto the hands of God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buryed in such decent Christian manner as to my Executors shall be thought meet nothing doubting but that at the general resurrection I shall rceive the same again by the mighty power of God and touching such worldly Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form Imprimis I give to Martha my dearlly beloved wife the part of all my stock of cattle and horses and half my hogs with all the household good and all my sheep Excepting two Ews and Lambs for to be delivered Equally to both my children Mary and John Parrot to my daughter at the years of Sixteen and to my son at the years of Eighteen Item I give to my daughter Mary Parrot one-third part of my stock of both cattle and horses for to be delivered to her or her heirs at the date of her being sixteen years of age Item I give to my son John Parrott one-third part of my stock of both cattle and horses to be delivered to him or his heirs at the date of his being Eighteen years of age Item I give to both my Children to be Equally divided between them both at the age above mentioned the other half of my hogs after Martha my beloved wife has had her share taken out Item I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter Mary Parrot and to her heirs the Plantation and Land whereon I do now live containing four hundred and fifty acres lying in Bertie precinct and on the West Side of Cucklemakers Creek Reserving a right of way to my well beloved wife Martha Parrot Item I give to my well beloved son John Parrot and his heirs two hundrd acres of land lying in Bertie precinct and upon the south side of Ducking Run Lastly I do constitute appoint and ordain my well beloved friends William Fleetwood and Edward Rasor my sole Executors of of this my Last Will and Testament all __?__ my land and ___?__ and tenements by them freely possessed and enjoyed to the benifit of both my children Mary & John Parrot and I do hereby disallow revoke and annull all and every other former testament, will, legacies, and bequests and Executors by me in any ways before named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament in Witness Whereof I have herewith set my hand and seal the day and year above writ Signed sealed published pronounced and declared by the said Jacob Parrot as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us the subscribers Tests.
