I desire & empower my executor to sell a tract of land called (Lewis) of 170 acres, one tract called (Morrises) & one Negro man named (Tom) either at public or private sell & one half of my stock of cattle & have my tar kiln ( ) or sold as a fund to pay my debts & also to hire out two other of my Negroes except the Negroes (Penory) & Rachel & Tom so as further fund if necessary until my daughter Winifred marrys or comes to the age of 21 at either period the said Negroes are to be equally divided between my daughters ( ), Polly, Nancy & Winifred & at the death of my beloved wife, Jennit the Negroes lent to her to be equally divided among them, I lend to my beloved wife Jennet Pugh all my land on the north side of Bare Swamp except those bot of John & Nicholas Cobb & ( ) to my son in law William Jordan or my daughter Polly Jordan to sell what timber they may want to use for the saw mill & liberty to clear and cultivate any uncleared land or they may chuse included in the above during the term of her natural lie, I also lend to her all my land on the south side of (D or B?? Swamp) hereafter given my daughter Nancy except the liberty to my daughter Nancy to clear & cut any part of the uncleared land during the term of her natural life, I also lend her all my household & kitchen furniture & one half of my stock of cattle during her natural life then to be equally divided between my four daughters, I also lend her one third of all my Negro slaves until my daughters Winifred marries or comes to the age of twenty one and then and from that time I lend her one fourth of all my Negroes instead of the one third during the term of her natural life and then to be equally divided among my four daughters, I also give to her all my stock of sheep & all my stock of horses except two given hereafter to my daughters Nancy & Winifred, to be at her disposal, I also give her privilege of having her ( ) at my mill which I have hereafter give my daughter Mary & her husband free from tolls or any charges for grinding the same, I lend to my daughter (Pattie Sanderson) during her life & to my son in law Richard Sanderson during her life one half of my huckleberry land which I bot of Burt & one half the lands which lies to the westwards of the ( ) which I bot of (Bar’a Bowen) the whole of the lands I bot of Nicholas Cobb & John Cobb in the fork of Bare Swamp on the north side & at (the decease) I lend the said land to my grandson Whitmel Sanders until he arrives at the age of 21 or marries then I give the said land to him, except his father sell it under the power hereafter given him, but should he my said grandson die before he arrives at the age of 21 or marrys then the next male child of my daughter (Patty) shall be his heir & for want of such to the next female child of my daughter (Patty) has, I hereby empower my son in law Richard Sanderson to sell those lands mentioned in the item provided he will purchase other lands & appropriate them to the uses & purposes of these; I lend to my daughter (Polly Jordan) during her lifetime & to my son in law William Jordan during his lifetime all the lands I have on the north side of Bare Swamp except that bot of Nicholas Cobb & John Cobb, (the mill across Bare Swamp) with (three) acres of land on the north side of Bare Swamp & all the utensils & implements belonging to the ( ) grist mill except ( ) my beloved Jennit in the land & mill ( ) her decease, I lend to my grandson Whitmel Jordan the said land until he arrives at the age of 21 or marrys the I give to him the said land & mill but should he die before he arrives at the age of 21 or marrys then the next male child of my daughter Polly shall be his heir & for want of such to my granddaugher Harriet Jordan; I lend to my daughter Nancy Pugh all the land I bot of Joseph Hopkins & David Gaskin & the parcel bot of (Ben Bowen) as far as Deep run except as (respecting) my beloved wife Jennet in the (lands) until she arrives at the age of 21 or marrys at either of these presents I give the said lands after the decease of her mother, I also give my said daughter (Nancy) one Negro girl named Penne over and above an equal share with her sister & one mare bot at Hinton’s sale also I desire & request my executors to pay to my said daughter Nancy annually a sum of money to be raised out of the (common ) of my estate which they think sufficient to support her ( ) until she arrives at the age of twenty one or marrys & if she dies prior to either of those her three sisters shall be her heirs, I lent to my daughter Winifred Pugh the other half of the land I bot of Burt & the other half of the part of the land I bot of Ben Bowen on the west side of Dee Run & the land bot of Wm. H. Green until she arrives at the age of 21 or marrys at either of those ( ) I give the said land to her, I also give my said daughter Winifred one Negro girl named Rachel over & above an equal share with her sisters & one mare called the Little Mare & also request & desire my executors to pay to my said daughter annually a sum of money to be raised out of the common funds of my estate which they think sufficient to support her in (clothing) until she arrives at the age of 21 or marrys & if she dies prior to these periods her ( ) sisters shall be her heirs; I wish my executors to let the Negro woman & children I have lent my son in law Wm. Sanderson & the Negro woman & child lent to my son in law Wm. Jordan continue to belong to them as part of their shares & that old Peter & his wife continue together in the division & when my mother Mary Thompson dies I wish my part of the Negroes she now has to be equally divided between my four daughters & desire my executor to have me interred in a decent Christian manner, I appoint my son in laws Richard Sanderson & my son in law William Jordan & son (Jonathan Sasicks) executors of my will, signed Thos.
