Edward Rice Will

I, Edward Rice of the county of Bertie, and State of North Carolina, being
of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly
existance do make and declare this my last will and testament, in manner
and form following that is to say, First, that my administrator shall provide
for my body a decent burial, suitable to the wishes of my friends & relatives
and pay all funeral expenses, together with my just debts, howsoever, and 
to whomsoever owing out of the monies that may first come into his hands, 
as part or parcel of my estate
 
Item 1st  I give & devise to my beloved sister Celia Rice all that tract of
land whereon I now live (that was gave me by my Father David Rice) to
have and to hold to her, and her Heirs in fee simple forever.
 
Item 2nd  I give & devise to my beloved Sister Celia Rice all of my stock,
consisting of Hoggs & cattle  Also all of my remaining property on the
plantation, to have and to hold to her and her heirs in fee simple forever,
 
I do hereby revoke and declare utterly void, all other Wills and testaments,
by me heretofore made 
In Witness whereof I the said Edward Rice do herewith set my hand & seal
this the 15th of March 1862.

Testament in presence of us, who, at his
request in his presence and others presence
of each other do subscribe our names
as witnesses thereto

This last will and testament of Edward Rice was proved
in open Court, by the oath of Wm H.Tayloe, one of the
subscribing Witnesses thereto, and ordered to be recorded
