Napoleon B. Rice Will

State of North Carolina
Bertie Co. May 25th 1863

Know all men by these presents that I Napoleon B. Rice aforesaid
county & State being in sound mind & memory and knowing at
sometime or another that I have to die I do hereby make this my
last Will & Testament in the name of God amen
Item 1st I give unto Wm D. Rice him his heirs and assigns forever
negro girl Caroline.  Item 2nd I give unto my mother Priscilla Meyers
twenty five dollars in money her heirs assigns forever.  Item 3rd I give
unto my brother Geo. W. Rice Ann Rebecca Powell and my sister
Sarah G. Rice One thousand dollars that is now in the hands of Geo.
H. Mitchell to be equally divided between them The residue of my 
Estate and all of my intrust if any to be equally divided between my
brothers and sisters after my debts and expenses are all paid.  Given
under my hand & seal the day & date above mentioned

This last Will & Testament of Napoleon B. Rice was proved in open
Court by the oath of Geo H. Mitchell one of the subscribing witnesses
