I James Sikes of the County of Halifax & State of North Carolina being in perfect sense & Memory do make & ........??........... this my last Will & Testament revoking all other wills heretofore made by me. In primis, my Body I desire may be decently Buried & what earthly goods it hath pleased God to bless me with, I give in the following manner. Item. I give to my Son Daniel Sikes all that Tract of Land containing 75 acres in the County of Norfolk in Virginia near the Great Bridge, also the Half of the Money due from Josiah Sikes, for which there is now A suit depending in Norfolk County to him & his Heirs forever. Item. I give to my son Nathan Sikes all that tract of containing 100 acres lying in Norfolk County in Virginia, in the Pine Swamp, also one sixth part of the Debt due from Josiah Sikes aforesd & Ten Silver Dollars. Item. I give to my Son Joab Sikes 240 (? pounds?) Proclamation Money and Ten Silver dollars, one Cow & Calf ....??..........& Piggs & one sixth Part of the Debt due from Josiah Sikes aforesaid. Item. I give to my son Jacob Sikes the Land whereon I now live containing 200 Acres more or less & the Debt due from Richd Templeton also one sixth part of the Debt due from Josiah Sikes aforesd & fifteen Silver Dollars. Item. My Will & Desire is that should either of my three Sons Nathan, Joab, or Jacob Sikes, die before they arrive to the age of Twenty one years or day of Marriage that part or Parts divided to them may be equally divided between the Survivor or Survivors of them & their heirs forever. Item. The residue of my Estate of what Nature or kind soever I give to my beloved Wife Sarah Sikes to dispose of as she thinks best. Lastly, I constitute & appoint my beloved Wife Sarah Sikes Executrix & my two Sons Daniel & Nathan Sikes Executors of this my last Will & Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand & Seal this sixth day of February in the Year of our Lord 1779.
