I, Richard Veale, of the county of Bertie and State of North Carolina being weak in body but of sound & perfect mind & memory blessed be the almighty God for the same, do make & publish this my last will & Testament in manner & form following: That is to say first, I lend to my loving wife, Anney Veale all my wash land and all the land lying in dear (?deer) pond plantation and house where I now live. I lend her all the house furnishings during her life or widowhood. Item. I give and bequeath to my son, Richard J. Veale and his heirs forever one tract or parcel of land lying on the norht side of Rockwist (Rocquist) Swamp and all the land belonging to the high land and pastor land. Item. I give and bequeath unto my son, Richard J. Veal, all my wash land and all my dear (?deer) pond land and plantation after the death of my beloved wife Anne Veale. Item. I give my daughter, Elizabeth E.C. Veal on [one] tract of land lying on Cashie Swamp and all my blackbush land. Item. I give my daughter, Elizabeth E.C. Veal one negro girl named Rachel.
