Will of William RUFFIN (5)Recorded in Book F Pages 90 & 91 Bertie Co, NC Son of William and Penelope/Patsey Ruffin Brother to James Ruffin February 7, 1808 In the name of the Lord God, Amen. The seven of February one thousand eight hundred and eight, I William Ruffin, of North Carolia, Bertie County, being in a low state of helth, but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be unto God for the same, therefore I do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to day first and principal I give my Soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it unto me and my Body I commend to the earth to be decently buried in Christian burial ________cation of my executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection, I shall receive the same again by the mightyu power of God and as ??tecking my world? state to herewith it hath pleased God to bless me with I give divise bequeath and dispose of the same in manner and form following. Herein I give unto my Brother Starkey Ruffin a tract of land lying in the State of Tennessee in Washington County one hundred acres giving? ? with to him and his heirs for ever. I give unto my well beloved Brother Starkey Ruffin a negro fellow by the name of Nick also a negro girl by the name of Temp to him and his airs forever, but I give this negro girl unto my Sister Sarah King for her to keep until my Brother ST Ruffin come of age then for him to receive her. I give unto my well beloved Sister Sary King one hundred dollars after all my just debt are paid. I give unto her one feather bed and funiture and I give all the balance of my estate unto my brother Starkey Ruffin containing in horse or money. If my brother Starkey Ruffin should die without a lawful begetting line, then these negros shall return back unto my Brother Thomas Ruffin and the hundred acres of land in Tennessee to him and his aires (heirs) for ever. I do make my Brother John Ruffin my full and ? executor. In witness where of I have set my hand and seal the day and year above written signed sealed and delivered in presence of David King, James Moore State of North Carolina, Bertie County August term 1808 This last will and testament of William Ruffin dec'd was proved in open court by the oath of James Moore and of the subscribing witness , thereto orderd to be recorded.
