21. Shaw Family Cemetery, a.k.a. McBryde-West Cemetery Location: 

From the Ammon intersection, go SE on SR 1002 to SR 1505, then turn S onto 
this road. On the E side of SR 1505,look for dirt road leading to the cemetery 
which can be located by spotting the large cedar tree beside an open field, 
only 1/10 of a mile from SR 1505. Recorded by Nash A. Odom, Feb.17, 1971; 
visited by committee members on Jan. 24, 1985, with Frank Harrelson as guide.

Additional information from Wanda Suggs Campbell: John West has a large wooden 
marker with cedar tree at head of grave. He married Mary McBryde who is also 
buried here. From Bible and Family Records of Bladen County, North Carolina, 
Volume 1, pp. 22 & 23, is found a record of the West family, with the 
information that John West was born Aug. 19, 1798, died Sept. 20, 1865, 
married Mary McBryde on Feb 16, 1821. Mary McBryde was born April 17, 1792, 
died Oct. 26, 1862.
