To the Honorable, the General Assembly of the State of No. Carolina.

          The Petition of Stephen Barfield of the County of Bladen - Humbly
representeth That your Petitioner has two illegitimate Sons bearing the names 
of Jesse Hatcher and Allen Somerset who is now both minors, and is desirous 
that their names should be alterd to that of Jesse Barfield and Allen Barfield 
which your petitioner prays may be done by legislative Authority, by having an 
Act of the General Assembly pass'd for that purpose, and their names confirmd 
under the same Regulations that all other names similiar to those is done by 
your Honorable body and your Petitioner as in duty bound will every pray.
