The 4th day of January in the year of Our Lord Anna Domino, 1773. I, Joseph Regan of Bladen County in the province of North Carolina, planter, being sick in body but of good and perfect memory thanks be to God, and calling to mind and remembrance the uncertain estate of this transitory life and that all flesh must yield unto death whom it shall please God to call. I do made and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form fol-lowing: First: Being penitent and sorry for all my sins, most humbly desiring forgiven-nss for the same, I commend my soul unto Almighty God My Saviour and Redeemer, in whom and by whose merit I trust and believe and assuredly to be saved and to have the full remission of all my sins and to inhereit the Kingdom of Heaven, and my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Execu-tors hereafter named and for settling my temporal estate and such goods, chattels and debts, as it hath pleased God to favor on with, I first desire that all my lands shall be equally divided between my three sons, Ralph, John and Richard Regan, that my negroes, home furniture and living stock of all kinds shall be Equally divided between my loving wife Anna Regan and the sons above mentioned. And it is my further desire that Mr. Absalom Barnes and Mr. Samuel Cain, shall divide the above mentions lands, stocks and negroes and house and furniture. And I hereby make and appoint my two eldest sons, Ralph Regan and John Regan, full and sole Executors of my last Will and Testament hereby revoking, disannulling and making void all former Wills and bequests by me made and declaring this to be my last and only Will and Testament.
