THOMAS ARD DEED TO MALCOM BROWN

This Indenture made the twenty Eighth day of July in the year of our Lord
one thousand seven hundred and eighty six and in the tenth year of our
independence Between Thomas Ard of the County of Bladen and State of North
Carolina of the one part and Malcom Brown of the County and State aforesaid
of the other part witnesseth that the aforesaid Thomas Ard for and in
consideration of the sum of ten pounds to him in hand paid by the aforesaid
Brown the receipt whereof the aforesaid Thomas Ard doth hereby acknowledge &
doth fully freely and absolutely acquit and forever discharge the aforesaid
Malcom Brown his heirs Exrs* Admrs* & assigns by these presents doth give
grant Bargain sell convey and confirm unto the said Malcom Brown a certain
piece or parcel of land lying and being in Bladen County on the South side
of the Raft Swamp Beginning at a large pine near Misay? Branch & runs No 31
chains & 63 links to a small pine thence Et 31 chains & 63 links to a Stake
thence So 31 chains & 63 links to a Stake thence Wt 31 chains & 63 links to
the Beginning Surveyed for Thomas Ard the 19th day of August 1782 and by a
deed of conveyance from Thomas Ard to M Brown which will more fully appear
from said deed and patent reference thereunto being had together with all
and Singular the woods waters & water courses rights and liberties thereunto
belonging to have and to hold the said one hundred acres & every part and
parcel thereof unto the said Malcom Brown his heirs and assigns forever and
that free and clear of al incumbrances whatsoever the one half of gold and
Silver mines together with the quit rents hereafter arising on said
Bargained lands excepted and reserved for the use of the State forever and
the aforesaid Thomas Ard for himself his heirs Exrs* Administrators and
assigns doth covenant promise and agree with the aforesaid Malcom Brown his
heirs and assigns by these presents that he the aforesaid Thomas Ard and his
heirs the hereby granted premises & every part and parcel thereof with
appurtenances unto the said Malcom Brown his heirs and assigns against him
the said Thomas Ard his heirs and all persons lawfully claiming or to claim
shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents and further the
said Thomas Ard and his heirs and all and every other person or persons that
shall and may any other times hereafter to have or claim any right or title
to the said free bargained lands or any part or parcel thereof upon the
reasonable request cost or charges in the law of him the said Malcom Brown
his heirs or assigns shall and will signed & delivered any such further
instrument of writing whatsoever for the further and better confirmation of
the hereby granted premises with the appurtenances unto the aforesaid Malcom
Brown his heirs & assigns forever or by his counsel less ?ed in the law
shall and may be reasonably advised or required In witness whereof the said
party hath hereunto set his hand and seal Signed sealed & delivered
