Witnesseth that the said party of the first part _____________ for and in consideration of the sum of twelve hundred and fifty dollars the receipt of which I hereby acknowledge – has given granted bargained sold and conveyed and does hereby give grant bargain sell and convey to the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land lying in the County of Robeson aforesaid and on the East side of Hog Swamp beginning at a small hickory in Simon Cox’s upper line on the West side of Juniper Bay and runs North 16 West 28 chains & 50 links thence North 76 East 26 chains to a stake & joins in said Cox’s line thence South 33 East 49 chains thence a direct line to the beginning containing one hundred acres as will fully appear by patent to William Thompson bearing date 30 Nov 1789 Also another tract beginning at a large pine near or joining the aforesaid Cox’s line and runs South 43 East 23 chains & 2 links by several small pines thence South XXXXX 75 West 40 chains thence North 43 West 25 chains thence a direct line to the beginning containing eightyeight acres as will more fully appear by patent granted to Fredrick Ratty bearing date 20 Dec 1791 Also another tract lying on both sides of Cox’s Branch beginning at a pine in the East edge of the bay West of said Branch a little below his own corner and runs North 43 East 8 chains to a stake by the Branch thence to 43 West 13 chains thence South 45 West 8 chains then a direct line to the beginning containing twelve acres as will fully appear by patent to the aforesaid Fredrick Ratty bearing date the 18th Sept 1783 Also another tract containing two hundred acres adjoining the above tract and being on and in East side of the Hog Swamp about one mile below Reddin Britt’s line beginning at a turkey oak on the line about one hundred yards South of the swamp and running thence South 13 East28 chains & 38 links to a white oak then North 75 West 44 chains & 73 links then North 15 West 44 chains & 73 links then South 73 West 44 chains & 73 links then direct to the beginning surveyed for and published by Simon Cox 28 Dec 1774 with the exception of 133 acres willed by said Eliza Britt of the first part to Harriet Britt and 21 acres willed by Thomas Britt to Daniel XXXX Nance & wife Sarah and Also enough from the bay tract of the land so as to make 200 acres in all To have and to hold the same with all appurtenances thereunto belonging to Robert Byrd his heirs and assign forever and the said party of the first part for the consideration does hereby covenant and agree to warrant and defend the promise aforesaid to the party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever against the claims and entry of all persons whatsoever In witness whereof the said party of the first part has hereunto set her hand and Seal on this day and year above written Eliza Britt {SEAL} Signed Sealed and Delivered in presence of H F Pitman State of North Carolina } August 17th AD 1860 Robeson County } There was the execution The written Deed duly acknowledged before me in office at Lumberton by the brother and W H Hartman Clk Additional Comments: Deeds obtained from scanned documents sent to me by Tolmy Butler of NC for transcription File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/bladen/deeds/britt78gdd.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/ncfiles/ File size: 4.2 Kb
