Cain to Richard and Ollen Tatom 1 May, 1837 - James deeds 80 acres of land to Richard and Ollen Tatom for $80 This indenture made this 1st day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven between James J. Cain of the one part and Richard Tatom and Ollen Tatom of the other part all of the County of Bladen and State of North Carolina. Witnesseth that the said James J. Cain for and in consideration of the sum of eighty dollars to him in hand paid by the said Richard Tatom and Ollen Tatom on or before the signing and sealing of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath this day bargained and sold and by these presents do for myself my heirs or assigns bargain sell convey and confirm unto the said Richard and Ollen Tatom three several tracts or parcels of land as hereafter described viz. One tract or parcel of land containing forty acres (being part of a one hundred acre survey) lying and being in the County of Bladen beginning on the north side of Diggons Meadow at a pine in James Cain Seniors line near the edge of said meadow and runs N 33 degrees E 21 chains 50 links to Isaac Davis' line thence with said line S 45 E 17 chains to a pine Davis' corner thence until it intersects the other next to the said meadow thence with that line to the beginning (forty acres more or less) Another tract in the County of Bladen beginning at a pine two pine pointers in James' line and on the side of Diggons Meadow and runs S 45 degrees W 18 chains to a stake and three pines on the side of goose pond bay thence S 42 degrees E 20 chains to a stake thence direct to the beginning entered 21st December 1815 containing twenty five acres. One other tract in the County of Bladen on the NW side of Diggons Meadow beginning at a stake in the line of a 49 acres tract and runs with said line N 35 E 7 chains and 50 links to a stake in Sessoms line thence with Sessoms line N 45 W 15 chains to a stake in James Cain Seniors line then with said line S 45 W 8 chains 50 links to a stake in the line of a 50 acres tract of James Cain Seniors and with said line to the beginning. To have and to hold the said three tracts or parcels of land containing in the whole eighty acres be the same more or less. I the said James J. Cain for myself my heirs executors administrators or assigns do warrant and forever defend the same to the said Richard Tatom and Ollen Tatom free and clear of and from the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatever.
