BLADEN COUNTY, NC - DEEDS - Reuben Dew to Theo Coleman, 19 Mar 1790 ----¤¤¤---- REUBEN DEW DEED TO THEO COLEMAN Bladen County, NC 1790 Deed Book 2, No. 726, pages 586, 587 This Indenture made the nineteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety between Rueben Dew of the State of South Carolina and George Town District of the one part and Theophelus Coleman of the State of North Carolina and Bladen County of the other part witnesseth that the said Reuben Dew for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds Specie to him in hand paid by the said Theophelus Coleman before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof the said Reuben Dew doth hereby acknowledge himself to be fully satisfied contented and paid hath given granted bargained sold Enfeoffed conveyed and confirmed unto the said Theophelus Coleman his heirs and assigns forever and by these presents do fully freely and absolutely give grant Bargain Sell Enfeoff convey and confirm unto the said Theophelus Coleman his heirs and assigns aforesaid one certain piece or parcel of land lying in Bladen County aforesaid on the North side of Cubbages Swamp Containing one hundred acres beginning at a Red Oak running North twenty five Degrees west one hundred and twenty seven pole to a Stake then South twenty five Degrees East one hundred and twenty seven pole to a Stake thence to the beginning which said land was granted to Isham Hatcher and sold by the said Hatcher to John Simpson then sold by the Sheriff of Bladen to Thos Ames by virtue of an execution obtained from the County of Bladen against the Estate of the said John Simpson and sold by the said Thomas Ames to John Mc Kenne and by Mc Kennie to the said Reuben Dew and now Sold by the said Reuben Dew to the said Theoplelus Coleman also one other piece or parcel of land containing one hundred acres below the above mentioned one hundred acres on the North side and partly in the above mentioned Gapway Swamp including the Cedar Island Beginning at a Red Oak running south one hundred and twenty seven pole then west one hundred and twenty seven pole then North one hundred and twenty seven pole then to the Beginning which said land was sold by the Sheriff of Bladen County as the property of John Simpson To Thomas Ames and sold by Thomas Ames to John McKinny and sold by McKinnie to the said Rueben Dew and now sold by the said Reuben Dew to the said Theoplelus Coleman To have and to hold the said Bargained land and premises unto the said Theophilus Coleman his heirs Exrs* Admrs* and assigns forever with all hereditaments and appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining together with all profits and privileges of every Kind whatsoever free and clear from all and other bargains sales gifts grants Mortgages Executors or any other encumbrances whatsoever the arrears becoming due to the State only excepted and the said Reuben Dew doth promise and engage that the said Theophelus Coleman Shall and May at all times hereafter peaceably and quietly have hold possess and enjoy the said Bargained land and premises according to the true intent and meaning of these presents and the said Reuben Dew doth promise and engage that at the time of ensealing and delivery of these presents that he is the true sold and owner of the said land and premises and that he has good right full power and lawful authority in his own proper title to sell and dispose of the same and the said Reuben Dew doth further promise to warrant and defend the above mentioned bargained land and premises unto the said Theophelus Coleman free from himself and his heirs and from the lawful claim of any other person or persons Whatsoever In witness whereof the said Reubin Dew hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and date first above written Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of John Yates Reuben Dew [signed w/signature] (Seal) John Coleman Senr Bladen May Term 1790 This deed was proved by the oath of John Coleman and ordered to be Registered.
