Indian Swamp Meadow
Written: August 16, 1856

Britt deed 16 Aug 1856

Thompson & French   }      $500.00  August 16 1856
               To                   }          We acknowledge ourselves
Robert Byrd                 }      indebted to Robert Byrd in the
___________________         sum of five hundred Dollars – The condition of the
Bond is that wheras Joseph Thompson and
Robert S French have this day agreed to convey to said Byrd a
Tract of land lying in the County of Robeson in tha Indian Swamp Meadow
beginning at the Alden Britt and Cader Ivy corner and runs West 58 chains to
John Ivy corner thence North 28 chains to a corner of French and Thompson then
East to Thomas Britts line in Juniper Bay then with his line South 15 East to
his corner then direct to the beginning – Containing 134 acres being the same
where Nimrod Britt now resides – And the said Byrd has executed his several
notes therefore- One for Sixty Eight Dollars due 1 Jan 1857 one due 1 Jan 1858
for one hundred Dollars and one other due 1 Jan 1859 for one hundred Dollars.
All with intrest from date – now when the said Robert Byrd shall will and truly
pay the said three notes if the said Thompson and French shall make a deed of
conveyance with proper names to the said Byrd of said tract of land then this
Bond to be and otherwise remain in full force –

Be it RemXXX(can’t make out) that on this 23rd day of Feb 1857 at the office of
the clerk of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions for Robeson County  Then
was the execution of the within Bond duly acknowledged by Robert S French
grantor. The Registor of Robeson County will make due Registration of the same
with the accompanying certificate.
