BLADEN COUNTY, NC - DEEDS - Samuel Haines To John Gibson, 15 Mar 1771 ----¤¤¤---- SAMUEL HAINES DEED TO JOHN GIBSON Bladen County, NC 1771 Deed Book 1, No 104, page 147, 148 This indenture made March 15th 1771 between Samuel Haines of Bladen Co. Province of North Carolina of the first part and John Gibson of the Co. and province aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said Samuel Haines for and in consideration of the sum of thirty pounds proc money of the said province to him in hand paid by John Gibson at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof he the said Samuel Haines doth hereby acknowledge doth give grant bargain sell alien and confirm unto the said John Gibson his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land containing 100 acres lying and being in the Co. and province aforesaid on a prong of Wilkerson Swamp Beginning at a Black Oak on the eastern edge of the said swamp about 200 yards below the mouth of Lye's Branch and running thence N.70 E.31 chs. [chains] 63 lks [links] then N.20 W.31chs 63 links thence S.70 W. 31 chs. 63 lks then S.20 E. to the beginning including the plantation where the said Haines lived, acwill more at large appear by his Majesty's Letters Patent granted to Joshua Perkins for the same No. 431 and dated Dec. 22. 1769 To have and to hold the aforesaid bargained land and premises together with all houses gardens woods waters ways with all timber trees and cleared ground and all the privileges profits commodities and advantages to the said land belonging or in any wise appertaining to the said John Gibson his heirs and assigns forever and that clear from all encumbrances whatsoever from all jointures dowers mortgages uses wills entails and all other rights challenger claim or demand of any other person or persons whatsoever and the said John Gibson his heirs and assigns shall and may from time to time and at all times hereafter for ever have and hold use occupy possess and enjoy the above premises with every part or parcel thereof in his or their own rightful power and lawful authority to give or dispose of the same peaceably and quietly seized and possessed of the same And the said Samuel Haines his heirs and assigns to the said John Gibson his heirs Exrs* Admrs* and assigns against all persons shall and will warrant and forever defend by virtue of these presents according to the true intent and meaning of these presents and I will acknowledge this instrument or deed of conveyance in open court to be held for the Co. aforesaid when thereto required In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Samuel Haines [signed w/signature] (Seal) Richd* Smith Jno* Cade North Carolina Bladen Co August Court 1771 There was the execution of the within deed proved by the oath of Richd* Smith in due form of law and ordered to be registered Maturin Colvill, Clk.
