Bladen County, NC - William Hendon to William Johnston, 1815 ~~~~~~~~~~ Bladen County Will Book 10, p312: William HENDON to William JOHNSTON (Spelling and punctuation exactly as written in the deed) This indenture made this 23rd day of May A.D. 1815 between Wm. Hendon of Bladen County and state of No. Carolina of the one part & William Johnston of the County & state aforesaid. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty pounds to him in hand paid at and before the sealing of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Wm. Hendon doth hereby acknowledge & my self therewith to be fully satisfied & paid have bargained & sold unto the said Wm. Johnston his heirs and assigns a certain piece or parcel of land situate in Bladen County 40 acres on the East side of Jones Creek to beginning at a stake three pines & three post oaks pointers Cowens Corner of a 300 acre survey on the line of a 500 acre survey & runs with it North 85 Et 15 chains & 75 lks to Bradleys corner thence with his line So 12 Et 28 chs to a stake on Cowens line of an 800 acre survey thence So 70 Wt 16 to a stake thence to the beginning Granted by his Excelency William Hawkins the 23rd day of Nov. 1812 To have & to hold the said bargained premises unto him the said Johnston his heirs & assigns forever with all profits & advantages unto the said land belonging and I the said William Hendon do warrant & defend the said bargained land unto the said William Johnson his heirs and assigns against the right title or claim of any person of persons whatsoever claiming by through or under.
