BLADEN COUNTY, NC - DEEDS - Nathan Horn To John Smith Sr., 30 Apr 1774 ----¤¤¤---- NATHAN HORN DEED TO JOHN SMITH SR Bladen County, NC 1774 Deed Book 23, No. 394, pages 515, 516 This indenture made Apr 30th AD 1774 between Nathan Horn of Bladen Co. province of North Carolina of the one part and John Smith Sr. of the Co. & province aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said Nathan Horn for and in consideration of the sum of thirty pounds proc money to him in hand paid by the aforesaid John Smith the receipt whereof the aforesaid Nathan Horn doth hereby acknowledged & hereof doth fully freely and absolutely acquit exonerate and forever discharge the aforesaid John Smith his heirs Exrs* Adminr* & assigns by these presents hath given granted bargained sold aliened enfeoffed conveyed and confirmed and by these presents doth give grant bargain sell alien enfeoff convey and confirm unto the aforesaid John Smith a certain tractor parcel of land lying and being in the county aforesaid between Tadpole Swamp & Drowning Creek Beginning at a pine said to be Murphy's upper back (Tract) corner from said swamp and running thence N.35 W. 40 chs then N. 55 E. 80 chs thenS.35 E.80 chs then S.55 W.80 chs Then direct to the beginning containing 640 acres To have and to hold the said bargained premises hereby granted or mentioned to be granted with all and singular their appurtenances and every part & parcel thereof unto the said John Smith his heirs and assigns forever and that free and clear from all manner of encumbrances whatsoever the one half gold and silver mines together with the quit rents on the said bargained land only excepted and reserved to the use of his Majesty and successors And the aforesaid Nathan Horn for himself his heirs assigns Exrs* Admrs* doth covenant promise & grant to and with the said John Smith his heirs and assigns by these presents that he the aforesaid Nathan Horn & his heirs the hereby granted premises with the appurtenances and every part and parcel thereof unto the aforesaid John Smith his heirs and assigns against him the said Nathan Horn his heirs and assigns and against all and every person and persons whatsoever lawfully claiming or to claim shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents And further more that the said Nathan Horn and his heirs and all and every other person or persons whatsoever having or lawfully claiming or that shall or may at any time or times hereafter do have or claim an right title or interest of in or to the prebargained premises or any part thereof by from or under him them or any of them upon the reasonable request coit? & charges of him the aforesaid John Smith his heirs or assigns shall and will sign seal and deliver any such further and other instrument of writing whatsoever for the further appurtenances unto the aforesaid John Smith his heirs & assigns forever as by him or them or by his or their counsel learned in the law shall or may be reasonably advised devised or required In witness whereof the said party hath hereunto set his hand and seal Signed sealed & delivered in presence of Saml Smith Nathan Horn [signed w/signature] (Seal) John Rowland Proved by Samuel Smith May Term 1774 Ordered it be registered Alfred Morre, Clk [Note: * denotes raised letter] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright.
