BLADEN COUNTY, NC - DEEDS - Nathan Horn To John Rowland, 22 Aug 1772 ----¤¤¤---- NATHAN HORN TO JOHN ROWLAND Bladen County, NC 1772 Deed Book 23, No. 226, pages 311, 312 This indenture made Aug. 22nd 1772 between Nathan Horn, Planter of Bladen Co. province of North Carolina of the one part and John Rowland Planter of the Co of Rowan and province aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the aforesaid Nathan Horn for and inconsideration of the sum of fifty five pounds proc money to him in hand paid by the aforesaid John Rowland before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and thereof do acquit and forever discharge the aforesaid John Rowland his heirs Exrs* Admrs* and every of them by these presents doth fully freely and absolutely grant bargain sell alien release and confirm unto the aforesaid John Rowland his heirs and assigns all that plantation or tract of land containing 400 acres be the same more or less situate lying and being in the province aforesaid butting and bounding as followeth Viz: On Ashpole or Tadpole Swamp Beginning at a White Oak on the north side of said swamp said to be in or near Richard Barefields upper line about 1/3 mile above the mouth of Hog Swamp and running thence as his line N.63 chs. 25 lks. to a stake among three pines pointers then W. 63 chs.[chains] 25 lks [links] to a stake among three pines pointers then S. 63 chs. 25 lks. then direct to the beginning as may more fully appear by the patent dated Dec 16th 1769 and duly recorded in the Secretary's office and entered and enrolled in the Auditor Generals office in the province aforesaid Together with all and singular the buildings improvements orchards, meadows ways woods waters watercourses rights liberties hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging or in any wise of right appertaining and the said reversion and reversions remainder or remainders, rents issues and profits thereof To have and to hold the said 400 acres of land hereditaments and appurtenances hereby granted or mentioned to be granted with their appurtenances and every part and parcel thereof unto the aforesaid John Rowland his heirs and assigns forever and that free and clear from all manner of encumbrances whatsoever the one half of all gold and silver mines together with the quit rents on the said bargained land only excepted and reserved to the use of his Majesty and successors forever. And the aforesaid Nathan Horn for himself his heirs Exrs* & Admrs* doth covenant promise and grant to and with the aforesaid John Rowland his heirs and assigns by there presents that he the aforesaid Nathan Horn and his heirs the hereby granted premises and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances unto the aforesaid John Rowland his heir sand assigns against him the aforesaid Nathan Horn and his heirs and against all and every person and persons whatsoever claiming or to claim & shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents And further that the aforesaid Nathan Horn and his heirs and all and every person and persons whatsoever having or lawfully claiming or that shall or may at any time or times hereafter do have or claim my right titles or interest of in or to the said prebargained premises or any part thereof by from or under him or any of them upon the reasonable request cost and charges in the law of him the aforesaid John Rowland his heirs or assigns shall and will sign seal and deliver any such further and other instrument or instruments of writing whatsoever for the further and better assurance and confirmation of the hereby granted premises unto the aforesaid John Rowland his heirs and assigns forever as by him o r them or by his or their counsel learned in the law shall or may be reasonably advised devised or required In witness whereof he said party hath hereunto set his hand and seal.
