Butler ==================================================================== Bladen County, NC Deed Book 10 page 106 This indenture made this day of August 1833 between John Smith of the one part and Theopholus Tatom of the other part. Both of the County of Bladen and the State of North Carolina. Witnesseth that the said John Smith for and in consideration of the sum of One Hundred and forty Dollars to him in hand paid by the said Theopholus Tatom the receipt is hereby acknowledged have jointly by these presents have bargained sold conveyed & confirmed unto the said Theopholus Tatom his heirs assigns forever and by these presents doth give grant bargain sell and confirm unto him said Theopholus Tatom his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in the County and State aforesaid on the South side of Jones Creek containing two hundred and eighty acres more or less beginning at a stake John Whites line runs N 60 degrees West 314 Poles to a line on Westerns [?] back line near a meadow thence 77 degrees E 276 poles to Whites back line on the creek and down 90 degrees "about No 20 degrees W 332 poles to the Beginning", to have and to hold unto him the said Theophilus Tatom his heirs admin[istrators] assigns forever. What ......of land I said John Smith for myself my heirs and admins[istrators] and assigns forever doth warrant and forever defend from all persons whatsoever laying any lawful claim or claims whatsoever to the same unto him said Theopholus Tatom his admin[istrators] and assigns forever together with the improvements to woods waters and all appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining.
